Long Time Customers
It's just really something when you make a soap that had a special meaning in the past and your customers remember it. Yesterday I was at my Concord Market and a customer picked up a bar of Dakota Spice and says "I remember this, you made it before, the name was in honor of your truck" and all of that was right. The name Dakota spice was for my former Market Vehicle, Luke, a Dodge Dakota! I figured he was due something in his honor, hauling me and the soap around! The point was, it thought it was so cool to have customers around that remembered things like that. I haven't had my truck since 2007! I am so grateful for my customers, and by the way, I do have a soft spot for old trucks (although Luke was gorgeous and not very old).

How spoiled am I?
My customers are always so sweet to me, it's hard sometimes to figure out when they become friends as well as customers! Anyhow, one of my long time customers came today and got her stash of soap and said "I have something for you, for when it gets cold". Aren't these just TOO cute! She made them herself! The thing is that when it's cold out, it's really hard to work in gloves, counting money etc, so these are really the bee's knees! Do I have the nicest customers or what?

The Tidbit
If you are able to give your customers a little something to remember you by, it's a good thing! With us, we like to give a little sample to our customers. It's good for brand new customers, risk free way to try the soap, and with our existing customers it a fun way to try something new.
We use end pieces in little glassine bags and have our contact information on the bag, that way they'll hopefully remember which one they tried and our website is there too in case they want more information or don't want to wait til the next Market to get a full sized bar!
For us the other nice thing is that there's just no waste at all, so everyone's happy. The main thing to take away from this is that you want to leave your customers with something good to think about! Find a way of doing that, make it fun and creative!
